AFA’s Dee Cherry Attends Prime Minister’s Veteran Employment Awards
The Prime Minister’s Veteran Employment Awards were held in Canberra on Wed 28 March. Flight Lieutenant Dee Cherry attended on behalf of the Air Force Association and shares her experience with us...
'Last night I had the honour of attending the first Prime Minister’s Veteran Employment Awards as a representative of the Royal Australian Air Force Association.
The room was filled with politicians, our military leaders, key industry leaders and many others, all working towards the goal of Veteran Employment after service.
The transition to civilian life and employment can be difficult for many veterans.
The veteran success stories and industry recruitment programs were inspiring to hear. I felt privileged to be a part of something so special. Well done to the DVA for organising this amazing event and congratulations to all the winners! See full list of winners here.
A few key messages came out of the Awards last night:
- Veterans bring so much to the table and will be an asset to any employer.
- They are proven team players, highly adaptable, can easily work under pressure, have integrity, are resilient and have the strongest work ethic.
- Never forget freedom isn’t free & the best way we can honour our veterans of the past is to support our current veterans.
If you are thinking of transitioning and need to find employment, why not check out the Government & industry leaders who support this initiative.'
