From: Friday March 2, 2018, 12:00 pm
To: Friday March 2, 2018, 2:30 pm
Presentation by Hugh Dolan, author and historian
Air Force Association (Victoria) will host and fund its first ‘Meet-a-Mate’ fellowship event at RAAF Williams, Point Cook. Association members and former serving Air Force members and their partners are invited to a presentation by author and historian Hugh Dolan. Air Force and Defence APS members working at RAAF Williams have also been invited. Hugh’s presentation will cover the use of air power in the Gallipoli campaign.
Hugh Dolan is a former RAAF intelligence officer and author of a series of historical graphic novels, including ‘Gallipoli: The Landing’, ‘36 Days: The untold story behind the Gallipoli landings’, ‘Reg Saunders: An Indigenous War Hero’, and ‘Ned Kelly: The man behind the mask’. The documentary film Gallipoli From Above screened on The History Channel and ABC TV was based on material from Hugh’s book.
Come along and learn how air power was used extensively during the Gallipoli Campaign and the intelligence provided to the commanders and planners before and after the landings. Hugh Dolan, after intensive research, has changed what we know about Gallipoli. The Australian War Memorial in Canberra supports his findings.
This is a free event for members and their guests.
The presentation, lasting about one hour, will be followed by a light lunch and non-alcoholic beverages.
