BENDIGO BRANCH REPORT – FEBRUARY 2018
The last report I wrote was just so long ago, that I can't believe another year has passed us by! Since that last report the Bendigo Branch held a 'Picnic-in-the Park' together with - Ballarat Branch on 19th February 2017. This was a great day with lovely weather, delicious food & good company. Hopefully we can continue to have these get-together's with Ballarat in the years to come.
On 7th December, 2017 we held our Christmas function which was attended by 36 members, but unfortunately not State President, Carl Schiller, who was committed to State Branch's end of year function. We had a great time at the Windermere Hotel dining on delicious food and entertained by a group of vocalising ladies, called the Rustic Divas who sang songs from 50's & 60's finishing off with carols. It was so good with our toes tapping & also singing along which we were encouraged to do. The swindle organised by Richard & thanks to the members who donated many prizes went off well.
Now, we are at February 2018, when on 1st we held our AGM, the executive remain the same, with Roy Gaffee- President, Ray Gray- Snr.Vice, Richard Henson-Vice President & Glenis Gordon-Secretary/Treasurer. The membership obviously were happy with our performance either that or we just needed a bit more practice.
Sadly, I have to report that another two members, Victor Cahill & John Hill have moved into aged care.
On 19th February, 10 members attended a Commemorative Service for Darwin Defenders. This service was held at the Bendigo District RSL when at 0930 hrs the siren rang out, which was quite eerie.
We wish all RAAF members & their families a very healthy & safe 2018. Take good care.
Secretary, Bendigo Branch
